BOULWARE SPRINGS

ASSIGNMENT + BACKGROUND:

This project hugs a natural water source named Boulware Springs in Gainesville, Florida.

PROJECT GOAL:
To educate the members of the site about water's usage and the importance of its maintenance by converting the water from the spring head into an architectural vein that visibly provides for the community.

PROCESS:

Site mapping
Deriving art from site information to finalize the design.

DETAILS:

A central basin that moves water from the springhead and divides the space between work and play.

The large overhead structure directs water into the central basin, forming a water wall that establishes privacy between the private and public sector. Looking at the plan, the left sector, the educational area for children, holds classes, with space for indoor and outdoor hands-on education, with direct access to the man-made river.

The sector to the right is for adults, which holds offices for teachers, or those of authority in the community. These offices have ample space to sit at the picnic tables on the green area outside and to enjoy the water as well.
